"Stress is now the number one reason behind sickness from work"             (Gee Publishing Survey)

"More than two-thirds of people are suffering from work related stress" (ICM Research)

"Stress in the workplace is undermining performance and productivity in 9 out of 10 companies" (Industrial Society)

WHAT IS STRESS?

Stress is defined as any factor that threatens our physical or mental wellbeing.  Some people lead very stressful lives but manage stress so that it doesn't affect them, whereas for others, even the slightest worry can have damaging consequences.  There are many factors that play a significant role in determining what is stressful for one person and not for another.  We all have different life experiences, states of health and personality types which means we all react differently to stressful situations.

HOW IS STRESS DAMAGING?

Stress can have a damaging effect on our body systems, especially if we do nothing to remove the cause of the stress, or respond to it differently.  Deskbound jobs and huge amounts of time spent sitting at computers affects our posture.  This in turn can lead to stiffness, back pain, headaches and conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Repetitive Strain Injury.

BENEFITS OF MASSAGE THERAPY AT WORK

There are easy and effective ways for companies to reduce the stress levels felt by employees at work.  The investment made to ensure that stress experienced by employees is addressed will far outweigh the cost of lost working days through absenteeism and job turnover.  Through our Wellbeing @ Work service, we are able to offer you the following treatments in your workplace:

Reflexology is a complementary therapy which works ont he feet or hand to heal the whole person.  It is an holistic therapy which treats more than just the prevailing symptoms.  Pressure is applied to reflex points on the feet and hands.  These reflexes are connected to distinct areas of the body via nerve pathways and electromagnetic channels of energy called meridians.

Aromatherapy is a therapeutic massage that employs essential oils extracted from fruits, leaves, woods, resins, stems and flowers of plans and trees in a way that can improve emotional, physical and mental health.  The essential oils are blended to create different 'recipes' to assist in healing both mind and body.

Indian Head Massage works using firm and rhythmic strokes on the head, neck, scalp, face and shoulder areas.  Much of the stress we experience on a daily basis manifests itself in our upper body and this in turn can cause bad posture, tight knotted muscles and severe headaches.  This treatment helps to release mental and physical stress and wellbeing.

Swedish Massage refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of the blood returning to the heart.  This technique can be carried out on any part of the body using oils, lotions or talcum powder.

Deep Tissue Massage is a technique within the field of complementary therapies that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.  This works through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibre of the muscles, tendons and fascia.  This massage will concentrate on specific areas for maximum benefit.

Reiki is an original method of healing developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th centurey, which is activated by intention.  Reiki's natural healing energy works on every level, not just the physical, and promotes the body's regenerative self healing ability.  Reiki is a non-invasive therapy whose purpose is to treat holistically to restore balance and harmony.  It is a gentle energy and may be used safely by people of all ages.

Each therapist can be booked for a minimum period of four hours. During that time, they will provide your employees with stress-relieving treatments in convenient 20 minute sessions and multiples thereof, so as to fit in with their working day. All that we require from you is a quiet room for each therapist to work in.

Our competitive all-in price is just £36 per therapist per hour. Ideally, you will nominate a person within your organisation to take bookings for each session, which you can charge to your employees or choose to subsidise as appropriate. You can book us to come to your office on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or ad-hoc basis. We are confident that you will soon see the benefits in terms of increased staff morale, improved productivity, reduced absenteeism and alleviation of stress related conditions.

In order to demonstrate the benefits that providing this service can bring, we would be delighted to offer you a free trial session of two therapists for two hours. This will enable you to gauge the popularity of offering treatments to your workforce on a regular basis.
